Background Info

I never thought there would actually be a day where I could say, "I made it into the varsity team!" Honestly, I thought I wouldn't even make it into JV. I actually never played on a team before, but I did have experience with the basics of volleyball thanks to my cousin. During the school year, we would go outside and practice volleyball for 1-2 hours every weekend. During the summer, we would practice 1-2 hours every day. When he first introduced me to volleyball, it was during the spring break of  7th grade. I remember that I played for around 10 minutes before I sprained my thumb and outright gave up.  I was so sure that I was going to pursue running in high school that I ignored the possibility of playing volleyball. The following weeks, my cousin would consistently bother me until I finally gave in and practiced with him. Soon enough, playing volleyball became a habit and second nature to me during the weekends. Now that I made it into the volleyball team, I'm surprised how my goals have changed.
